ON THE WHY'S AND HOW'S
When we, two industrial engineer sisters, decided to start our own business, all we knew was that we wanted to work for a purpose that would be good for us and for the world. We didn't have a family business or an established system to inherit. Before deciding what to do, we decided why and how to do it. The industry and the product came as a result of these decisions. This was important, because we didn't try to transform an existing system; we built a new system based on our values.
This was both a great freedom and a serious responsibility. The reason we chose textiles was simple: it was one of the industries that harmed the world the most. If a difference was to be made, it could be made right here.
WHY LINEN?
Our choice to work with linen was a conscious one. Despite being one of the best fabrics for people and nature, it was overlooked in the industry due to its difficult production, cost, and limitations. Its properties, such as wrinkling and lack of elasticity, did not align with the performance expectations of the modern world.
However, linen, as the world's most durable natural fiber, offers benefits far beyond its limitations. From soil to final product, it is gentle on the world and its resources. It is good for human skin and health. It brings a touch of the sea, a bit of a Mediterranean vibe, wherever it goes. Linen means long tables, crowded dinners, salt, time, and simplicity.
WE CHOSE THIS WORLD
When we set out in 2017, there were almost no brands embracing linen in this way. This gave us the responsibility not only to produce but also to define a standard.
Today, the fact that linen has become more visible and is preferred by more brands is significant for us. But we are still where we were on day one: loyal to the material, the source, and the production method.
We work responsibly at every stage, from fabric to supply chain, from production to the end-user. We design products that are produced less and last longer. We are building a system that relies on time, not seasons.
Because we know that consumers may not always question how the product they buy is made. But as producers, our responsibility is always to offer the best possible options to the consumer.
Dor is the result of these choices. A system that prioritizes environmental criteria without compromising on quality and design.
One world.
